Project Selection - Magazine

Print journalism is a classic form of informational media that has been used for centuries. As it has the advantage as the more time-honored way of the informing press, it is intriguing as well as entertaining to me. A fantastic example of this can be found within the movie, All the President's Men, where eager journalists, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, take on the story of exposing the 37th president of the United States, Richard Nixon, as well as the men involved in the Watergate Scandal. Throughout the movie, Woodward and Bernstein dig deeper and deeper into the multiple improprieties by "following the money". As they do this, I was immediately interested due to their use of print journalism and their detailed and fastidious search for factual information. If I were to choose the magazine project, it would be because I have always enjoyed writing, researching, interviewing, and answering questions. However, if this were my choice, I feel a challenge may be to write about events or something that would appeal to teens and young adults in this area, as many of Sarasota's attractions are directed towards the older population. Although, it is also true that there are multiple forms and topics within print media to explore and share. To be able to elaborate on the abundance of writing material would be a wonderful experience, as I take great satisfaction in informational writing.
