While in the film planning phase, researching other movies under the same style as ours is incredibly beneficial to our final product, as the more knowledge of the task at hand we possess, the better our project will be. Another film I have selected for our research is How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. In the first two minutes, not much is established except newspaper articles written by the main character, Andie Anderson, played by Kate Hudson, from the magazine Composure shown over the soundtrack "Catch Me If You Can", sung by The Beu Sisters. Not many filming shots are used, however, the use of post production visual effects are vital to this first scene. As multiple news articles are shown, they act as transitions, while we see Andie finding the inspiration to write these articles about her daily life. There were no jobs shown, only the production company, Paramount Pictures, their associates: MMP Moviemakers Productions, Robert Evans/Christine Peters Productions and Lydia Obst Productions, the director: Donald Petrie, as well as the two leading actors: Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. The budget was set at $50 million US dollars, however, the box office grossed over $177 million USD. Unfortunately, we, the students, are not equipped with a large quantity of money such as that to produce that kind of film. Nevertheless, the editing and visual effects portrayed within the first two minutes of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days was extremely beneficial to helping us further our development in our own film.
