Draft of Script

Shown below is a draft of the script. It shows multiple settings and the dialogue between Rebecca, Graham and the teacher. We are still in the process of choosing a cast, title, and some character names, as well as finalizing shots and editing techniques that will be used.

Setting
High school set in present times.
[Starts with credits, shown over GRAHAM and his friends, walking outside, discussing auditions for their theater's upcoming show "Romeo and Juliet"]

GUY 1
"Graham, doesn't the cast list come out today? Do you think you got a lead?"

GRAHAM
"Oh yeah, for sure, I'm the only guy who's actually good."

[REBECCA and GRAHAM pass, they glare and scoff at each other]

REBECCA
"Stuck-up."

GRAHAM
"Try-hard."

[camera changes shots to REBECCA and her friends, also discussing auditions]

GIRL 1
"He's so annoying. I can't believe he even auditioned."

GIRL 2
"He's actually kinda talented, and kinda cute...”

REBECCA
“Oh my god, Jennie, absolutely not.”

GIRL 1
“Can we please talk about more important things... Oh my god, Rebecca, how did auditions go? I’m sure you got Juliet..."

REBECCA
"I don't know, I messed up Romeo's name! How did I even do that?"

[reassurance from friends as REBECCA takes a textbook out of her locker]

GIRL 2
"Isn't the cast list up now?"

REBECCA
"I think it is!"

[they run to the theater, already surrounded by students]
[camera shows GRAHAM and REBECCA pushing through opposite ends of the crowd]

GRAHAM
“Move, punk.”

REBECCA
Exc-excuse me, I need to get through.”

[camera shows cast list as an eye-line match, turns around to GRAHAM and REBECCA.]

REBECCA
“Oh. My. God. No way. No no no no no no no...

GRAHAM
“WHAT? You’ve GOT to be kidding me!”

GRAHAM and REBECCA
THERE IS NO WAY I AM EVER WORKING WITH YOU!”

[they storm off in opposite directions]
[cuts to them fighting at rehearsal, script in hand on stage arguing and obviously over whelming Mrs. Headle]

MRS. HEADLE
“Alright, alright! Why don’t we just skip this scene and move on to the next one?”

GRAHAM
Can we please! Because obviously Rebecca needs to work on this scene a lot more until it actually looks good!”

REBECCA
“Whatever, Graham, let’s just move on...”

[REBECCA, GRAHAM, and MRS. HEADLE all flip the page, MRS.HEADLE put her head in her hands]
[as REBECCA reads through the sceneshe is visibly disgusted]

REBECCA
“You have got to be kidding me... Mrs. Headle, is there any way we could skip this scene, too?”

MRS. HEADLE
“I’m sorry Rebecca, but we can’t skip every scene! You guys will have to do this scene at some point, the show is soon!”

GRAHAM
Mrs. Headle, I’ve got this. Because I am a professional, I can do it”

[he looks at script]

GRAHAM
“Oh, absolutely not! There is no way I am ever kissing her!

MRS. HEADLE
“You two need to stop arguing and suck it up and kiss each other like you mean it or so help me I will never cast you in a show here again!

[both GRAHAM and REBECCA are taken aback]

GRAHAM AND REBECCA
“Yes ma’am”

[they face each other and take each other’s hands and begin the scene]

GRAHAM as ROMEO
Have not saint's lips, and holy palmers too?”

REBECCA as JULIET
“Ay, pilgrim, lips that they must use in prayer.”

GRAHAM as ROMEO
O, then, dear saint, let lips do what hands do.
They pray; grant thou, lest faith turn to despair.”

REBECCA as JULIET
“Saints do not move, though grant for prayers' sake.”

GRAHAM as ROMEO
“Then move not, while my prayer’s effect I take.”
[they kiss, pull away, and stare into each other’s eyes,
“True” by Spandau Ballet plays]
[moment breaks and they break into an argument, cut to black]
